Raphael, the star from Linares, brought his “Lo mejor de mi vida, Piano y Voz 2012” Worldwide Tour to Veracruz. As not frequently happens, the tickets were sold out for the Teatro de la Reforma, which looked full of expectation and packed out.
At 8:30, he appeared on stage being faithful to his style with a completely black suit; the star from Linares was received with a strong ovation and immediately he started singing a part of the song “Tu volverás” a capella and continued with “Yo sigo siendo aquel” “Mi gran noche” and “Digan lo que digan”, songs that were sung and applauded by the audience.
In this tour, the Spanish singer shows his great physical and vocal conditions, even the stage was austere: double stairs, faint purple and blue lights, only a pianist and him.
After 15 minutes, he talked to the audience, mostly composed by adult women:
“I´m really happy to be back here in Veracruz, after a few years, I have not been here for a while, I do not know why, because my agents have the precise order of including Veracruz in my tour every time I come to Mexico, also other places, but Veracruz is included too”.
“It is a pleasure to be with you and I wish that you and I have our “gran noche” (great night) like one of my song´s lyrics say.
Nearly all the songs that I am going to sing in this concert are written by my fetish songwriter, my favourite songwriter Manuel Alejandro, who has written all my “crowning jewels”. We have recorded together again after 28 years and we have made an amazing album that is going to be on sale soon”
He informed about what the concert was going to be about:
“I will sing some of those songs, song that you all know and there will be surprises because there will be song that you do not know from when I started my career”.
“These are the songs that Manuel Alejandro wrote for me in the years 60, 61 and 62, when I was still a teenager, there were innocent songs without any malice and “Cupido” was the first one.”
After those words, the singer presented the new songs from his new album, “El reencuentro”, as well as “Alta costura” “Todas las chicas me gustan” “Los hombres lloran tambien”, this last one was especially emotional because it looked as if he was crying at times.
He paid tribute to Carlos Gardel with the song “El día que me quieras” and in the last part of the show he sang “En Carne viva”, 'Escándalo', 'Ámame', 'Que sabe nadie', 'Como yo te amo' and 'Lo mejor de vida'.
The show organizers did not let anyone take picture except in the second and third songs and the Spanish star did not give any interview.
