Benidorm will dedicate a roundabout to Raphael for the 50 year anniversary of his victory at the Song Festival
The city of Benidorm will dedicate a roundabout to singer Raphael to commemorate the 50 year anniversary of his victory at the city’s Song Festival, as reported by the mayor, AgustĂn Navarro, after receiving the artist at the City Hall one day before he performs again in front of Benidorm’s people again.
The city’s councilor has announced that the city wants to pay tribute to the artist by dedicating him the Avenida de Europa’s roundabout that will be named the Bienvenida Fountain. “Next year, it will be the 50 year anniversary of Raphael’s victory on his first stage at Benidorm Song Festival, so we want to do something special because Raphael is part of the Spanish music and Benidorm history”, said Navarro.
Raphael was thrilled by the news since Benidorm was “the first of his performances that made an impact, the first rung of a very long career that turned out to be a very robust and sturdy step”.
Regarding next Saturday’s concert, the artist has described it as “vintage” and has revealed he will perform a lot of the “Joyas de la Corona” for his repertory and also tangos, boleros and rancheras. Besides, he has indicated that this is his most “visual and attractive” performance, according to his own words.
The Benidorm concert is included within the tour the singer started in Madrid on 30th November last year and will end also in the capital’s Gran Via on 18th December.
